Dan spent three years researching The Bank, interviewing past and present employees of the Bank of England, as well as many leading figures in Whitehall, Westminster and the City. The resulting book offers the first contemporary account of a uniquely powerful, influential and secretive institution, from 1997 to the present day.

Dan Conaghan is a writer and finance professional. He has spent twelve years working in corporate finance and asset management in the City of London, latterly in the bond market.
Reviews for 'The Bank':
*'Very readable... Conaghan accurately describes the shift of the bank's centre of gravity following the granting of independence on monetary policy...Conaghan's book is well worth reading. It takes the reader through the arguments of the last 15 years. Every page raises the same two questions: how is the bank run and how are decisions made?' - Alistair Darling MP, Former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Total Politics.
*'An accessible and entertaining account of the Bank's recent history, offering a tantalising glimpse of life behind its Threadneedle Street facade, and deftly sketching the personalities and foibles of its main characters - particularly its cerebral, domineering Governor.' - Peter Thal Larsen, Reuters BreakingViews.
*'Very good - and essential reading for all bond geeks' - Jim Leaviss, Head of Retail Fixed Interest, M&G, BondVigilantes.
Dan is a high quality speaker who is sure to provide an interesting insight into the workings of the Bank of England, please reserve your place as soon as possible as numbers are limited.
